For the last 31 years he has made his home an old farmhouse in Pechbouthier in the Dordogne region of France. Every winter, he leaves France to travel and paint in exotic countries. So far, he has spent 15 periods in Latin America, 7 in Asia and 7 in Africa. Guy Weir, a figurative colourist who is keen on developing his own vision. He likes the spontaneity of water colours, and the ease with which they can be transported. Much of his paper is specially made for him.
On his journeys Guy Weir travels rough, sometimes sleeping in native huts, cheap hotels, other times more comfortably. Travelling also by whatever transport is available. He likes to experience directly whatever ambience his models, human, evironmental or whatever are situated and rarely uses photography in his work. Guy is not sure where he will be going to this winter until he is on his plane...
